The first time I heard the word ‘smoothie’ was in 2014. After church service, there’s always this guy that sells. I managed to get a cup after much internal debate and after my first sip, I went, yuccckk! Gross! I later found it was a blend of cucumber and watermelon. ‘What an unnecessary combination!’ I thought. A better combo would have been apple and orange or pineapple and strawberry or strawberry and pineapple and so on. You know, all those sweet fruits would taste much better.
Fast forward >>>>>> 2016 and ta da! I am a big fan of smoothies. Whatever the combination, I am all in. That’s because I now understand the health benefits attached to it and that’s what I intend to share.
Here we go;
ALL IN ONE: For those of us that made new month/new year resolutions to increase their fruit intake, here is a perfect opportunity. Right in one cup, you can have different blend of fruits to enjoy. In fact, you don’t have to stick to one type of fruit. You can have all your favorite fruits
EASY TO MAKE: Cooking a pack of indomie would take what, 3 to 5 minutes? Making a smoothie takes way less that amount of time.
WEIGHT LOSS: Are you worried about that extra pound you are gaining? Tired of junk foods? When not consider replacing such with a diet smoothie. Most weight loss programs advocate replacing solid foods with liquids. So, what are you waiting for?
EASY DIGESTION: Constipation and indigestion are signs of an overworking digestive system. Fruits contain loads of dietary fiber which help ease the workload on your digestive system and aid in excellent digestion.
A STRONGER IMMUNE SYSTEM: It doesn’t matter how often one falls sick…actually it does; you miss quality time with family and friends, you perceive that delicious meal Mom makes but can’t eat, can’t work, can’t have fun etc. Fruits boost your internal defense system today and keep sickness away.
BETTER SLEEP: Ever heard the saying ‘early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy. A healthy cup of smoothie always results in better sleep at night.
HAPPINESS: How in the world would taking a cup of smoothie make me happy? They don’t call banana ‘the happy fruit’ for no reason. Fruits keep you less stressed and thus lighten your mood.
A cup of smoothie a day keeps the doctor away….
